Essential 1: Multi-Vitamins
The 4 Essentials Multi-Vitamin package is designed to furnish optimum levels of nutrients in order to maintain health and help prevent disease.
Adequate provisions of vitamins are required for virtually all functions in the body including:
- Muscular/skeletal/skin function and condition;
- Circulatory and heart function;
- Nervous and mental function;
- Immune and hormone systems; and
- Intestinal, liver and kidney function.
Essential 2: Vitamin B Complex
KKN’s Vitamin B Complex consists of various water soluble vitamins. The B vitamins work together to boost metabolism, enhance the immune and nervous systems, keep the skin and muscles healthy, encourage cell growth and division and provide a number of other benefits. KKN’s B Complex includes:
- B1, known as thiamine, serves as a catalyst in carbohydrate metabolism and helps synthesize nerve-regulating substances. Deficiency can cause heart swelling, leg cramps and muscular weakness.
- B2, or riboflavin, helps metabolize fats, carbohydrates and respiratory proteins. A deficiency can result in skin lesions and light sensitivity.
- B3, also known as niacin, vitamin P or vitamin PP, helps release energy from nutrients.
- B5, has a role in the metabolism of fats, carbohydrates and proteins.
- B6, or pyridoxine, helps the body to absorb and metabolize amino acids, to use fats and to form red blood cells.
- B9, or folic acid, sometimes goes by the name of vitamin M or vitamin B-c. Folic acid enables the body to form hemoglobin.
- B12, also known as Cobalamin or Cyanocobalamin, assists the function of the nervous system and the formation of red blood cells.
Essential 3: Essential Fatty Acids
Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) are necessary fats that humans cannot synthesize and must be obtained through diet. There are two families of EFAs: Omega-3 and Omega-6.
EFAs support the cardiovascular, reproductive, immune and nervous systems. The human body needs EFAs to manufacture and repair cell membranes, enabling the cells to obtain optimum nutrition and expel harmful waste products. A primary function of EFAs is the production of prostaglandins, which regulate body functions such as heart rate, blood pressure, blood clotting, fertility, conception, and play a role in immune function by regulating inflammation and encouraging the body to fight infection. Essential Fatty Acids are also needed for proper growth in children, particularly for neural development and maturation of sensory systems.
Essential 4: Antioxidants
One of the major advances of the medical and nutritional science over the past 40 years has been the recognition of the role of “free radicals” in health and disease.
Excessive free radical production is now implicated in the chronic breakdown of functionality of the following physiological systems in the body:
- Cardiovascular system;
- Immune system;
- Digestive system;
- Liver detoxification system; and
- Neural system.
In many cases, research has shown that supplementation of antioxidants prevents this breakdown from occurring and the indications are that the greatest benefits come from the provision of a wide range of both endogenous and plant antioxidants. It is also now recognized that our intake of fruit and vegetables, which are the richest dietary sources of antioxidants, is generally below optimum levels.
KKN’s 4 Essentials antioxidant component provides physiologically relevant concentrations of different antioxidants (including vitamins C and E), offered in a comprehensive spectrum of these “new vitamins”.
